In the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West circuit, Bill McAnally Racing is an organization drivers want to become a part of, because their 26 years of success is undeniable. After 25 years of racing with long time sponsor NAPA Auto Parts, they have over 60 victories and six championship titles. On the way to their 26th season finale at All-American Speedway on October 15th, BMR has added eight more victories in 13 races and will likely crown their seventh champion, Todd Gilliland, who has also clinched the Rookie of the Year title for the series.

Six of those victories came with Gilliland behind the wheel, including the season’s first two races at Irwindale Speedway and Kern County Raceway.  The other four wins include, three consecutive victories at Stateline Speedway, Iowa Speedway and Evergreen Speedway between July and August, followed by the most recent victory at Meridian Speedway in September. 2015 K&N West champion, Chris Eggleston with gave BMR two more wins in May and June at Orange Show Speedway and Colorado National Speedway.

“We couldn’t have done any of it without NAPA,” said McAnally. They’ve supported me since I started racing and have stayed with me. Our relationship as truly grown into something great.”

Two other BMR drivers this season include Julia Landauer and Riley Herbst who are fifth and sixth in the series point standings. Landauer became the first woman to win a NASCAR track championship in the Limited Late Model division at Motor Mile Speedway in 2015.

In 1986 team owner, Bill McAnally started racing as a hobby while working at a utility company. By 1990 he won his own Winston West championship and continued running select races through 1998. Just when thoughts of retiring came to mind, the father of another driver asked McAnally to help them get a car ready for racing, creating a new path as a team owner.

After a successful test, McAnally made an appeal to his longtime sponsor and partner NAPA allowing them to move forward with the new team. Later that year, the effort paid off when they won their first race, giving them confidence to field a full-time driver the following season. The newly formed Bill McAnally Racing earned two more wins and captured their first championship that season.

Over the years, BMR has fielded several success stories including, three-time K&N West champion, Eric Holmes and NASCAR drivers, Cole Custer and Brendan Gaughan. Before his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut, even Clint Bowyer made two starts for McAnally.

Bill McAnally says the success of BMR centers around the people throughout the organization.

“Our team is 100 percent all about the people,” said McAnally. “We find the right people for the right positions and that’s why we have success.”

The K&N Pro Series West season finale at All-American Speedway on October 15th is just one more step in a long history of success at Bill McAnally Racing.
