With a wreck-fest happening in their rear view mirror, ARCA Racing Series points leader, Austin Theriault made his way to the checkered flag with Christian Eckes side-by-side fighting for the top spot. Theriault, in his Ken Schrader Racing No. 52, edged out Eckes for the  Shore Lunch 250 thrilling victory at Elko Speedway on Saturday.

The win was Theriault’s second of the season and the third of his ARCA career.

“This hasn’t really set in yet,” said Theriault. “We need a little time to process this one. We were running fourth or fifth through the middle of the race. Then we put four General Tires on it…that’s when it came to life. Those last few laps were rough…definitely a lot of back and forth. We got some marks on the car but we got the win.”

With this win, Theriault extends his series points lead on the season.

“To be back in the ARCA Series and have a run like this is amazing,” Theriault added. “I have such a good group of guys behind me on this Ken Schrader Racing team. Donnie Richeson (crew chief) made all the right calls. We didn’t have the dominate car but we had it when we needed it most. Thanks to Federated Auto Parts for coming on board to help us with this one.”

Eckes led 91 laps before settling for second place, with Riley Herbst finishing third after leading 130 laps and being part of the multi-car pile up on the final stretch to the finish line. Bret Holmes finished fourth and with some right-side damage on his car, Gus Dean squeezed out a fifth-place finish.

Rounding out the top-ten were Zane Smith in sixth, Shane Lee seventh and Dalton Sargeant eighth, with  AJ Fike and local racer Cole Anderson from Northfield, Minnesota finishing ninth and tenth.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is the General Tire #AnywhereisPossible 200 at Pocono Raceway this Friday, June 9th.
