Clint Bowyer’s retirement is set for the close of the 2020 NASCAR season as he moves to the FOX Sports broadcast booth in 2021.

With only five races remaining for the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, veteran Clint Bowyer has officially announced his retirement at seasons’ end. It’s the end of an era for Bowyer, who is moving to the broadcast booth fulltime for FOX Sports beginning in 2021.

Bowyer Hopes to Continue Bounce-Back Season at Bristol

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR career hit a crossroad last season. Racing for HScott Motorsports, the 2012 championship runner-up finished 27th in the points standings and only logged three top-ten finishes – both career lows.

Heading into this year as the replacement for Tony Stewart in the No. 14 Ford at Stewart-Haas Racing, there was optimism Bowyer could get his career back on track. So far, he’s experiencing a bounce-back season. He’s already matched his 2016 total with three top-ten finishes and his third-place showing at Auto Club Speedway was his best performance since finishing third at Sonoma Raceway in June of 2015. Upcoming Kentucky Test Adds New Variables to Lower-Downforce Equation

For more than a third of active NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, there will be no rest for the weary.

One driver from each Cup organization is eligible to participate in a test of newly repaved Kentucky Speedway on Monday and Tuesday. The test is a continuation of NASCAR’s proving-out process for a new lower-downforce competition package earmarked for 2017.

Last year, as the sanctioning body solidified the rules for 2016, races at Kentucky and Darlington were used as benchmarks for the progression toward lower downforce for the Cup cars. This year, in selected events, NASCAR is taking an additional 500 pounds of downforce and 125 pounds of sideforce away from the cars by chopping the size of the spoiler, reducing the surface area of the splitter, tapering the rear deck lid fin and eliminating rear axle offset.
