Heartbreak summed up William Byron’s Saturday at Michigan International Speedway last week.

The 19-year-old JR Motorsports driver looked on his way his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series win when Denny Hamlin passed him on the final lap for the victory. Byron finished second by a miniscule 0.012 seconds. Continue reading

Denny Hamlin feels his fortunes are on an upswing, and he had reason for optimism even before he took the green flag in Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

On Saturday afternoon, Hamlin outduel William Byron in a side-by-side race to the finish line to take home the trophy from the Irish Hills 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race. The rookie drove like a veteran in Saturday’s Irish Hills 250 at Michigan International Speedway, but in the end, the veteran took the rookie to school.

NASCAR XFINITY Series teams will race the Irish Hills 250 at Michigan International Speedway, this Saturday, June 17th at 1:30 pm ET. Daniel Suarez is the defending winner. Coverage begins at 1 pm ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Justin Allgaier pulled a theft on his JR Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler in last Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Pocono.
