Zane Smith Joins Venturini Motorsports for 2017 Season

Pairs with Noah Gragson for Full Season Effort with 55-Toyota Team

Announced Friday, seventeen year-old Zane Smith has signed on with Venturini Motorsports (VMS) to pilot the No.55 Toyota Camry during the 2017 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season.

Smith, a native of Huntington Beach, California, will appear in 18 of 20 scheduled series events starting at the second race of the season in Nashville. Due to ARCA age restrictions, Smith will not participate at Daytona Int’l Speedway or Talladega Superspeedway as both tracks require drivers to meet the minimum age of 18. Continue reading

After starting from the pole for Saturday night’s Drivin’ for Linemen 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Gateway Motorsports Park, Erik Jones led a race-high 84 laps, but once again experienced misfortunes late in the race, spoiling his effort to collect that elusive first win of the season. Jones was in the runner-up position, chasing down race-leader Matt Crafton, with just under 20 laps remaining when contact with a lap truck resulted in terminal damage to his Special Olympics World Games Tundra and relegated him to a 23rd-place finish. Joey Logano pulls out wild overtime win in Martinsville Truck race

Race runner-up Matt Crafton said Joey Logano barreled into turn one on the last restart “like he was shot out of a cannon.”

Ducking to the inside with the accelerator mashed was the move Logano, the Coors Light Pole Award winner, had to make to vault from third to first and win Saturday’s Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway in an event that went eight circuits past its posted distance of 250 laps.
