No. 48 team extends Chase points lead to seven with two races remaining

The haymaker Jimmie Johnson delivered Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway turned out to be an eight-point swing.

Taking advantage of a late caution and four fresh tires to Brad Keselowski‘s two, Johnson pulled away from Keselowski in a green-white-checkered-flag finish to win the AAA Texas 500 and tighten his grip on a possible sixth Sprint Cup Series championship. Continue reading →

Brad Keselowski Opens the Chase with a Win

Beating Jimmie Johnson was a hard task the whole day but after the last pit stop, Keselowski figured out how to pass Johnson.

Johnson dominated the race for most of the day and Keselowski was the only driver who could keep up. Keselowski had a great final pit stop and made the race winning move by passing Johnson with about thirty laps to go. After Keselowski’s final pit stop he said his car “just took off.” Continue reading →

Bowyer Comes Back from Spin to Win at Richmond

The race that didn’t end until after 1:00 AM Eastern Time sent Clint Bowyer to victory lane for the second time this season.

Bowyer had previously won at Sonoma in June, earlier this season. This win gave Bowyer more bonus points heading into the Chase that will begin at Chicagoland Speedway next weekend. Continue reading →

Late Caution Helps Hamlin Win at Atlanta

Denny Hamlin brought home his second straight win Sunday Night in Atlanta after holding off Jeff Gordon in the final laps.  

Until the final caution flew with six laps to go, it looked like Martin Truex Jr was going to take home the win. After the pit stops during that caution, Denny Hamlin had become the new leader after beating Truex Jr off pit road.  Continue reading →
