CWTSFFDegaJeb Burton Focusing on a Season Turn Around at Kansas Speedway

After testing at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway last week, Jeb Burton heads to another 1.5-mile track – Kansas Speedway – in two weeks with a focus to turn his season around.

The 2014 season has not been what Burton expected after changing teams, but all that may change at Kansas. Last season Burton won his only truck series win on another 1.5-mile track (Texas) and Kansas is the first race this season on a track of the same size.

Burton’s average finish last year is 11th-place at 1.5-mile tracks, with a top-five (third) at Homestead to close out the season and four top-tens overall.

Moving to ThorSport Racing during the offseason, Burton has finishes of seventh at Daytona and 21st at Martinsville. Last season, at Martinsville, Burton started third and finished 15th.

NewsNotesDegaIf ThorSport Racings’ history is any indication, Burton should feel confidence going into Kansas. Teammate and defending truck series champion Matt Crafton won at Kansas last season and Johnny Sauter also has one win and four top-ten finishes in five truck series starts at the track.

Blaney Performing Double Duty

Ryan Blaney, a regular in the Camping World Truck Series for more than two years, is now fourth in the point standings. Last season, Blaney picked up a Nationwide Series win at Kentucky and finished ninth most recently at Richmond on Friday night.

When the truck series returns to action in two weeks for the SFP 250 at Kansas, he will stay around an extra day – making his Sprint Cup Series début on Saturday night. And that makes Blaney the third driver of his NASCAR Next class racing in NASCAR’s top series. He joins fellow alums, Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman in the race.

Blaney has three wins in national series competition. In addition to his Nationwide Series win at Kentucky last year, the 20-year-old driver has picked up truck series wins at Pocono (2013) and Iowa (2012).
