Even the best laid plans can go awry and Cameron Hayley’s experience on Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was that kind of day.

Making his third start at the New Hampshire 1.058-mile short track, Hayley raced from eighth-place and ran in the top-ten for most of the event running as high as fifth.  The day was going well, after overcoming some challenges his No. 13 ThorSport Racing team faced during two earlier practice sessions, when he finished 15th and fourth.

Hayley has one top-ten finish in 2014 at New Hampshire and was looking to add another top-ten to his track results. But it was a late race unplanned pit stop for a loose wheel, that put Hayley a lap-down and led to a disappointing 19th-place finish.

“We struggled in practice, struggled in qualifying,” said Hayley. “But we were really good during the race today – one of the fastest trucks on long runs. I made my way through the field and had it all planned out, strategy wise, and had issues on pit road.”

This season, Hayley just missed an inaugural Camping World Truck Series Chase appearance, after finishing third at Chicagoland and ranking him ninth just outside the top-eight Chase qualification cut off.  In 17 Truck Series starts this season, Hayley has been strong leading 21 laps, with five top-five and nine top-ten finishes. His NHMS result dropped his points standing to 11th.

Hayley will look to rebound in the next Camping World Truck Series race, the DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
