Austin Theriault is our guest on Fan4Racing NASCAR & Race Talk, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 8:40 pm ET. Call 929-477-1790 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite or @alaskey14 with any questions or comments during our LIVE broadcast.

After watching his boss, Ken Schrader take his No. 9 Federated Auto Parts modified to Victory Lane at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, Austin Theriault took his No. 52 to a thrilling ARCA Racing Series win in the General Tire Grabber 100.

On the second Green-White-Checkered finish and from the outside lane, Theriault passed Shane Lee in the first turn for the lead. Then, in his rearview mirror, Theriault watched Lee and Sheldon Creed battle for second while he widened the gap between them, finishing by just over a second at the finish line.

“We got a good restart,” said Theriault. “I had to get him on that restart…other than that we would have ended up in the fence.”

With just four races left in the ARCA season, this was Theriault’s fifth victory of the season while expanding his series points lead.

“It’s almost unbelievable when you think about it,” Theriault added. “The 22 and the 78 were fighting for the bottom and I saw an opening…that’s when we got a run on the outside. There’s a lot of patience that goes with these dirt races. You have to adjust your lines corner to corner…gotta be able to hang it out there and keep it there. Today was not easy but it was fun. The line was all over the place, which makes it fun. But we didn’t walk away with this one.”

Creed finished second with Gus Dean rallying for a third-place finish. Ryan Unzicker and Brandon Grosso round out the top-five. Lee finished sixth, with Will Kimmel, Dalton Sargeant, Joe Cooksley, and Tom Hessert completing the top-ten.

Next up is Salem Speedway for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic on Saturday, September 9th. This is the 102nd ARCA race at Salem since 1995 and fans will see several throwback paint schemes with Bill Kimmel Sr as the Grand Marshal.
