Taking the lead on lap 37 of the 100-lap event, Sheldon Creed never looked back while bringing home his first career victory with MDM Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series, Zomongo 200 on Friday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Creed, who has three third-place finishes and a pair of runner-up runs already this year.

“We have been so close to winning these things; it feels so good to finally get it done. It starts when you unload off the truck. It all goes back to the guys in the shop. Just a great day. No complaints inside the car…just a great day. Thanks to my whole family…my grandpa who’s been behind me since day one. I’ve always loved this place. I think I’ll be good here no matter what car I come back in. I can’t wait to come back and do it again.”

Indeed, it was a great day for Creed as he also posted the fastest lap (189.898 mph) and took back the series points lead from his MDM Motorsports teammate, Zane Smith.

“I feel like I’ve got my tracks that I’m good at, and Zane has his. Either way, it’s going to be a battle right down to Kansas,” continued Creed.

Calling the shots on the pit box is Jeff Stankiewicz as the winning crew chief who is familiar with winning races in the ARCA Racing Series. In 2015, Stankiewicz took on the crew chief duties in three races for ARCA champion, Grant Enfinger at GMS Racing earning one win and three top-five finishes.

Riley Herbst finished second for the second consecutive race, while Michael Self finished third. Gus Dean and Joe Graf Jr round out the top-five in fourth and fifth. Will Rodgers, Max Tullman, Quin Houff, Leilani Munter, and Codie Rohrbaugh round out the top-ten.

The Herr’s Potato Chips 200 is next on the schedule for the ARCA Racing Series this Friday night, June 15th, under the lights at Madison International Speedway. The race will air live on MAVTV while live timing, scoring is available at arcaracing.com.
