ARCA Points Leader Michael Self Keeps his Focus on Winning

After earning his third ARCA Menards Series victory of the season by dominating the race at Michigan International Speedway, series points leader Michael Self plans to keep his focus on winning when the series returns to the track this Friday for the Shore Lunch 200 at Madison International Speedway.

Self’s early success this season is at the half-mile tracks of Pensacola and Salem, along with his first career pole at Toledo, allowing him to shed the designation of a just a successful speedway racer.

Madison is the fifth short-track event on the schedule and this week is Self’s first time racing at the Wisconsin track.

“Madison is going to be totally new for me,” says Self. “I’ve never made a lap there, so I’m relying on the video I’ve watched and information from my teammates and people around the VMS shop to prepare and try and be ready to hit the ground running for practice on Friday. The track definitely looks unique and challenging, and hopefully I can pick it up and figure out by Friday night.”

Although the season has also brought a few downfalls with accidents derailing his title efforts at Daytona and Nashville, Self is confident that keeping his focus on winning each race on its own merits, will continue to separate him from the rest of the competition. Self’s perspective is to win the races and the points will take care of themselves.

Overall 2019 is a good year for Venturini Motorsports with six victories in the first nine ARCA Menards Series events of the season. Of their all-time 58 series victories, four wins are at Madison with Alex Bowman, Kyle Benjamin, Justin Boston, and Chandler Smith since 2011. Smith is the only one of the four entered this weekend at Madison.

Will Michael Self and Venturini Motorsports continue their winning ways?
