F4R-XS-News-Notes-TemplateThe NASCAR XFINITY Series teams will return to action in two weeks for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. Teams will race 200 laps for 300 miles on Friday, April 8th. FOX Sports 1 will begin their pre-race show at 8 pm ET with the green flag at around 8:30 pm ET. Fans can also listen to the race on PRN or SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Daniel Suárez Extends Lead in the Point Standings for Third-Straight Week

Austin Dillon Saves Fuel, Wins XFINITY Thriller at Fontana

Seconds after crossing the finish line 0.715 seconds ahead of runner-up Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon summed up Saturday’s TreatMyClot.com 300 by Janssen in one short sentence.

“I’d rather be lucky than good,” Dillon chortled on his team radio after ending evading Busch’s last-ditch attempt to pinch the winning No. 2 Chevrolet into the outside wall at Auto Club Speedway.

And that was just the last stanza of a crazy last lap that saw: 1) Busch slow to a crawl, short on fuel; 2) Daniel Suárez take the lead from his Joe Gibbs racing teammate on the backstretch, only to run out of fuel; 3) Busch regain the lead despite cutting a left front tire on his last lap; and 4) Dillon come from a half-lap down to pass Busch as the drivers approached the finish line. XFINITY Series Points Leader Daniel Suarez Grabs Familiar Sponsor For Fontana

While a familiar partner for his Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) team, current NASCAR XFINITY Series point’s leader Daniel Suarez will represent a new sponsor in Saturday’s XFINITY 300 at Auto Club (Calif.) Speedway.

Interstate Batteries, who first established its sponsorship with JGR prior to the 1992 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season will back the Monterrey, Mexico driver in the first of two XFINITY Series races this season, CATCHFENCE.com has confirmed.

The Dallas-based company also sponsors reigning Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch in select Cup races. They also backed Suarez’s XFINITY teammate Erik Jones two weeks ago at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. Other accolades during their 25-year partnership include the 1993 Daytona 500 victory by Dale Jarrett, the 2000 Sprint Cup championship with driver Bobby Labonte and multiple wins by Busch.
