In Jeff Gordon’s proposed Chase point system , the top chase driver in the 3 races in each of the 3 rounds would receive 16, 12 and 8 points respectively. the last chase driver would receive 1 point. In this format, Jeff would have beaten Newman by 4 points in the eliminator round. I applied this system to the whole chase and the 4 finalists at Homestead would have been Harvick, Gordon, Keslowski and Hamlin.. In the eliminator round, Brad was 3rd, Denny was 4th, Logano was 5th and Newman was 6th among chase drivers, Scoring chase drivers against each other would allow a driver to make up for a bad race and advance without winning a race in that round.
