NASCAR Whelen All-American driver Buddy Shepherd from Bakersfield, CA has been racing since he was four years of age, but the 2015 season has been the highlight of this 15-year-old driver’s young career. Racing with H & M Motorsports, Shepherd has already brought home three victories and three more top-five finishes, making him another young gun to watch in the youth movement within NASCAR.
On March 14th, Shepherd earned his first Whelen All-American Series race at Madera Speedway’s short track and followed up with a third-place finish on March 28th at Kern County Raceway Park. Looking to improve his results, Shepherd returned to Kern County on April 11th and came home with his second victory of the season, giving him the points lead at both Madera Speedway and Kern County Raceway Park.
Returning to Madera on April 25th, Shepherd carried his momentum back to victory lane for his third win of the season. Heading back to Kern County Raceway, Shepherd finished with his second top-five of the season, a second-place finish.
On a roll this season, it seems fitting that Buddy Shepherd would take the next step of his career with his début in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Shasta Speedway this past weekend. And yes, his momentum of the 2015 season continued with his first career K&N West race with a fifth-place finish – his third top-five of the season.
The K&N West, Bill Schmitt Memorial 150 will air on Thursday, June 4th on NBCSN.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West next race is June 27th in the Carneros 200 at California’s Sonoma Raceway.
