Everyone has their opinion of what took place between Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth and emotions are spilling over into debates about who was right or wrong.

The main question in discussion is whether this is just ‘hard racing’ toward a championship title, where title competitors are going all out to gain an advantage against their competition. In reality, the goal of all Chase competitors is to gain an advantage to win the title.  The real question lies in clarifying what is acceptable ‘hard racing’ and what crosses the line to unacceptable?   Continue reading

A mere two weeks before the Full Throttle S’loonshire 98.9 at Kansas Speedway, the ARCA Racing Series’ 2014 champion was planning to attend the event as the team owner of Mason Mitchell Motorsports. But Karl Chevrolet stepped up giving Mason Mitchell the support he needed to get behind the wheel for the No. 78 team. That decision was a good one with Mitchell earning his third career victory and second of this season – also with Karl Chevrolet.  Continue reading

Former Formula One and NASCAR driver, and once again taking a new direction, Scott Speed joined one of the hottest forms of motorsports – Global Rallycross. And there’s no looking back for the driver, now in pursuit of the championship title.

Speed put his No. 41 team in championship contention with their year-long performance including four double-header events this season.

Taking a second-place finish in Fort Lauderdale, a 12th at MCAS New River and seventh in Washington DC, the double-headers are where Speed has picked up his most points. The exception is Daytona where his missed one race and had a DNF in the other, but Speed has finished no worse than second in the next three double-header events.

After picking up two wins in the Los Angeles double-header last month, Speed moved into second in the point standings.

“It’s been a great weekend, obviously at the beginning of the season we struggled a bit, but with a new program like this you’re bound to have problems and we have had them. I think our Beetles are dialed in, they are fast and durable, so I see us as a major threat for the championship. I couldn’t be happier, I feel so lucky to be able to drive this Merchant First Beetle and I have a great teammate, a great team and I cannot say enough good things about Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross.”

In his Global Rallycross career since 2013, Speed has picked up 19 starts with five wins, five podiums, 18 heat wins and 438 points.

Last year, in his second season, Speed started strong with two victories and could have won the championship. However, after unapproved actions during a red flag in New York, he lost 35 points while three of his competitors gained five points, dropping him to ninth in the point standings. Speed went on to get his third win of the season, to tie for the most in series history. After getting his Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle in Las Vegas, Speed took his third pole of the season (a best in class), his 12th and 13th heat victories and a fourth in the main event – the best finish for his beetle.

Closing in on his third year in Global Rallycross, Speed came home with two second-place finishes in Barbados earlier this month, now making him the leader the point standings.

The Global Rallycross season finale is in Las Vegas on November 8th airing on NBCSN at 6:30 pm ET.
