Quin Houff will turn his racing dream into a reality this weekend, making his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut in the 54th running of the Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
The 19-year-old will drive the No. 98 BeatinCancerWithDuke.org Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). Cancer has touched Quin on a personal level. Both of his grandmothers were diagnosed with breast cancer and his paternal grandmother, the late “Mama BJ” lost her fight recently. Houff will honor her by having her name above the driver’s window. Houff’s mother Kate has gone through two bouts with breast cancer and is cancer free.
“This paint scheme personally to me means so much more to me than people realize,” Houff expressed. “Racing at Daytona is every drivers dream and I am so blessed to do that. But to be able to team up with Duke to do the fund-raiser for the Duke Cameron Institute (DCI) and have the pink paint scheme in celebration of my mom defeating cancer for the second time is so cool. I’m honored to have to have my grandmothers name (Mama BJ), who we lost to the Lord in Dec., above the door and honor her life and fight with cancer really hits home to me.”
Since 2015 Houff’s raised over $10,000 for breast cancer research. Houff will donate one-half of his earnings from Daytona to breast cancer research conducted by the Duke Cancer Center.
Houff’s enjoyed success the last two seasons earning two wins in the CARS Super Late Model Tour. Houff was also a member of the 2016 “Kulwicki Driver Development Program.”
“I believe the biggest key during the race is to just play smart and log all of the laps. You kind of have to play it like a game of chess. Stay calm but stay on your toes at the same time. I believe 100% we make all the laps my #98 BeatinCancerWithDuke.org Chevy will have a good finish.”
Chassis Information: Quin will wheel chassis No. 994 out of the MMM stable. The chassis was rebuilt after being involved in “the big one” last year at Daytona. This will mark its return to the track.
