The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series has just two races in the books and at the top of the series point standings is Grant Enfinger with ThorSport Racing after two competitive runs at Daytona and Atlanta.
After finishing as runner up at Daytona International Speedway last weekend, Enfinger came to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend and qualified for a top-five start in the Ultimate Tailgating 200 on Saturday afternoon.
Enfinger raced in the top-ten throughout most of the event with a third-place finish in the first stage and an eighth-place in the second stage. By the end of the race, he led four laps and accomplished his best result at Atlanta in third-place. But the best news is that his performance allowed Enfinger to bring home the driver and owner series point standings lead for ThorSport Racing early in the season.
“The inside line was definitely important on that final restart. There was no grip on the outside lane tonight, especially on a restart. I’m really proud of our guys, and this third place finish.
“We were up and down today – led some laps, and got shuffled back. The pit crew did a great job on pit road, and in the end, we came out with a solid finish.
“I can’t say thank you enough to Champion Power Equipment, Mike Curb, Duke and Rhonda Thorson – everyone that allows us to do this. Also to all the fans who stuck it out tonight.”
