Jimmie Johnson produced a championship caliber performance Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnson paced the field for most of the day and if he wasn’t up front, he was more than likely in the top three. This is the type of race where Johnson shows why he’s a five-time champion. Martin Truex Jr Signs Multi-Year Contract with Furniture Row Racing

Furniture Row Racing general manager, Joe Garone, announced today that the Denver, CO-based organization has entered into a multi-year agreement with Martin Truex Jr to drive the team’s No. 78 beginning with the 2014 Sprint Cup Series season.

Garone, sitting alongside Truex, made the announcement during a news conference at Texas Motor Speedway, site of Sunday’s AAA Texas 500.  Continue reading →

A season full of ups and downs was at its highest Sunday afternoon for Jeff Gordon. It had been an eight year dry spell for Gordon at Martinsville. He once dominated this track, but as of late, success has not been present for the four-time champion. That all changed with this win, however. Gordon took his first victory of 2013 to keep the championship in sight. Gordon made it to victory lane by keeping his nose out of trouble throughout the day. NASCAR announced today that beginning in 2014, the sanctioning body will mandate pre-season neurocognitive baseline testing as part of its comprehensive concussion prevention and management program for all of its national series drivers.

At the start of this season, NASCAR recommended that drivers who did not already have a baseline test secure one, while also indicating that a pre-season baseline mandate could become effective as soon as next year. Continue reading →
