On the Fourth of July, it was only fitting that the Subway Firecracker 250 featured fireworks at the finish. An intense last two laps allowed many players to emerge in the quest for victory. Once the checkered flag flew, it was JR Motorsports sweeping the top two spots as Kasey Kahne claimed victory. He barely edged out teammate Regan Smith who was strongest throughout the night. Progress continues on DAYTONA Rising
DAYTONA Rising is a $400 million reimagining of an American icon – Daytona International Speedway. Five expanded and redesigned entrances, or “injectors,” will lead fans to a series of escalators and elevators, transporting them to three different concourse levels. Each level features spacious social areas, or “neighborhoods,” along the nearly mile-long frontstretch. When redevelopment ends, Daytona International Speedway will have about 101,000 permanent, wider and more comfortable seats, twice as many restrooms and three times as many concession stands. In addition, the Speedway will feature over 60 luxury suites with track side views and a completely revamped hospitality experience for corporate guests. Continue reading
As NASCAR teams prepare for next week’s round two at Daytona International Speedway following Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s memorable 2014 Daytona 500 victory, plans for 2015’s season launch are already underway.
NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway today announced that Preseason Thunder will take place one week later in 2015. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will hit the track on January 15-16 as they prepare for the 57th running of the Daytona 500 on February 22, 2015. If there is rain, more track time is available on Saturday, January 17.
This year’s Daytona testing was Jan. 9-10, but rain washed out the planned first day of testing – forcing all on-track activity to Jan. 10. Continue reading
