Gabby Chaves Takes Pocono Indy Lights 100

Gabby Chaves picked up where he left off in practice by dominating the Pocono Indy Lights 100 Saturday.

Pocono IndyCar 500 Preview

The Verizon IndyCar Series returns to the 2.5 mile Pocono Raceway for the second straight year this weekend. After not racing on the Tricky Triangle since 1989, IndyCar made its return last July with Chip Ganassi Racing’s (CGR) Scott Dixon picking up the win and leading a 1-2-3 finish for CGR.

Andretti Autosport driver Marco Andretti shattered the track qualifying record with a two-lap average of 221.273 mph. Andretti dominated the Pocono IndyCar 400 before fuel issues relegated him to a tenth-place finish and hopes for a better result in Sunday’s race. Continue reading

Dale Earnhardt Jr Scores First Pocono Win

Dale Earnhardt Jr. took advantage of a Brad Keselowski fumble to grab his first Cup win at Pocono Raceway Sunday.

Earnhardt was running second when Keselowski went up behind a lapped car to get a piece of paper off his grill slowing the No. 2 car’s momentum down the Long Pond straightaway as Earnhardt drove on by for the lead. Continue reading

Six-time Champion Jimmie Johnson Could Earn Third Win of the Season at Pocono

Although some were wondering, 11 winless races in the season were never a concern for Jimmie Johnson and his No. 48 team.

Johnson picked up his first winner decal at Charlotte and he placed the second decal on his car the next week at Dover, closing out the first half of the 26-race regular season of the Sprint Cup Series.  Continue reading
