Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 83, announced today that he will not be returning to BK Racing in 2013 after one full season with the new organization.
Landon Cassill finished the 2012 season 31st in points and had a best place finish of 18th.
Cassill announced his departure saying, “This is a tough decision, but with one month before the Daytona 500, I have no other option but to leave the #83 BK Racing Toyota and pursue other opportunities. We simply could not close out our 2012 agreement and complete an agreement for 2013.”
Landon Cassill will look for a new opportunity in the Sprint Cup series going forward.
“I have proven myself as a championship caliber test driver, an exceptional qualifier and I’d like to continue working towards my goal of becoming a race winner and champion in NASCAR.”
David Reutimann, who tested for BK Racing at Daytona last week, seems like the most likely driver to take over the No. 83. Reutimann is also expected to test for BK Racing this week at Charlotte. Reutimann bounced around between four teams last season and could be looking forward to having a more stable driving opportunity this upcoming season. Reutimann drove for BK Racing, Tommy Baldwin Racing, Phoenix Racing and Xxxtreme Motorsports in 2012.
Travis Kvapil will be back in the No. 93 in 2013. BK Racing looks to field two cars the whole season this year.
