Autoweek Panel to Discuss NASCAR’s G6 Cars

NASCAR fans ready for the new season to begin, also have a lot of questions about the Sprint Cup Series‘ new Generation Six cars.

Autoweek announced today, that fans can tune into a live-streamed town-hall discussion on autoweekracing.com to see the inaugural Autoweek Racing Conference: The Road to Daytona on Tuesday, Feb 5 at 9 am ET.

The panel will be discussing the move to the new-for-2013 Gen-6 car, and will be moderated by Autoweek’s Editorial Director and Associate Publisher, Dutch Mandel.

Members of the panel include: Mike Helton, President NASCAR; Robin Pemberton, Vice President, Competition, NASCAR; Kim Brink, Vice President, Brand, Consumer and Series Marketing, NASCAR; Jim Campbell, US Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, Chevrolet; Jamie Allison, Director, Ford North American Motorsports, Ford; and David Wilson, Senior Vice President, Toyota Racing Development.

“Gen-6 is a huge step for NASCAR and the automotive manufacturers,” said Mandel. “The Gen-6 cars now bear a strong resemblance to production-car counterparts: Ford’s Fusion, Chevrolet’s coming SS and Toyota’s Camry. Tuesday will offer a unique opportunity to hear all sides of the story about how the industry developed the next generation race car. Viewers will learn what Gen-6 means for NASCAR, the industry and the fans.”

In addition to the Gen-6 discussion, other discussion topics include, how the new G6 cars will impact racing this season, aerodynamics to fuel mileage to tire life, what NASCAR and manufacturers are doing to pump up the fan experience with new energy and more.

The Autoweek Racing Conference is a joint effort between Autoweek and NASCAR. The conference is a closed industry event, held at Detroit’s College For Creative Studies.
