Who doesn’t remember the Social Media tidal wave that rolled through the Daytona 500 in 2012 when Brad Keselowski tweeted from his race car a photo of the jet dryer incident? That tweet generated 200,000+ new twitter followers, within less than 24 hours for eventual Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski.
NASCAR tracks are still riding that social media wave as DIS launches their fan-centric social media initiatives for Budweiser Speedweeks 2013.
Daytona International Speedway plans to make Budweiser Speedweeks 2013 and the 55th annual Daytona 500 an equally memorable event in many ways, starting with the largest and most expansive social media effort in NASCAR to further engage fans at the “World Center of Racing” and at home.
“Daytona International Speedway boasts the largest social media following of any racetrack on the NASCAR circuit,” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III. “During Budweiser Speedweeks, we’ll continue our efforts to get race fans closer to the sport, while also reaching out to our younger, more technologically savvy race fans.”
