In the footsteps of his father, 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton, and his uncle, current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jeff Burton, Jeb Burton started his racing career at Virginia’s South Boston Speedway. The young talent began racing in motocross and go-karts and quickly moved his way into Limited Late Models and Late Models.
By 2008, Burton was a regular in the Whelen All-American Series as well as Late Models in Virginia and North Carolina. At 18, Burton made his debut in the ARCA Racing Series, where his talent was not overlooked. As he began to turn heads, the young driver showed his intent to become a NASCAR driver.
In April of 2012, Burton made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut less than 60 miles from his home in Halifax, Va. at Martinsville Speedway. Burton made it clear that his goal was to qualify well and drive a respect-building race. After qualifying seventh, Burton went on to complete all 250 laps and finish 13th, surpassing his goals for his NASCAR debut.
The Virginia native completed four more races in the 2012 NCWTS season. 2012 also marked the year Burton made his Rev-Oil Pro Cup debut at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., where the rookie claimed victory in his first ever start. The young talent showed a competitive edge with lack of experience in these highly competitive series.
2013 will begin a new chapter for Burton. The 20-year-old signed a two-year contract with newly renamed Turner Scott Motorsports where he will pilot the No. 4 Arrowhead Silverado under the direction of veteran crew chief Mike Hillman, Jr. Burton will be vying for the prestigious Sunoco Rookie of the Year title in his first full season of NCWTS competition.
