Lowe’s Extends Sponsorship With Hendrick Motorsports

Jimmie Johnson‘s colors won’t be changing anytime soon. Wednesday, Lowe’s Home Improvement announced a two-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports and Jimmie Johnson.

Lowe’s has been the primary sponsor for Jimmie Johnson since his rookie season in 2001 and will remain on the front hood thru 2015. The twelve year relationship will at least last nearly fifteen years. The year 2015 is also important because Jimmie Johnson’s contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports expires at the end of the season.

Tom Lamb, Lowe’s chief marketing officer said, “We are proud to sponsor one of the most elite teams and drivers in racing and have a five-time champion carry the Lowe’s brand each week.”

Jimmie Johnson has gathered 61 wins since his Sprint Cup series debut. Those wins include two at Indianapolis and two in the Daytona 500. Johnson has never finished worse than sixth in the point standings since starting his first full season in 2002.

“They are all I’ve ever known in my Sprint Cup career, and their support of me and the No. 48 team is second to none in the sport. We’ve been together for this crazy ride, and I’m so happy we’re continuing it together. They truly are family, and I’m proud to represent them,” said Jimmie Johnson.

Chad Knaus has been crew chief of the No. 48 team during Jimmie Johnson’s entire Sprint Cup career. Knaus does not look to be leaving his seat atop the pit box any time soon. The duo plans to have even more success with Lowe’s, at least through 2015.

Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, said, “Jimmie and Chad have been successful because they always have a plan and do a great job executing. Lowe’s is the same way as a sponsor. The partnership has been incredible, and we’re looking forward to working together for many more years.”
