The hot-start Kyle Busch is off to this season just keeps getting better. The season isn’t even two months old and Busch has six wins combined, in NASCAR’s top-three series’.

Busch returned to victory lane on Saturday Night when he dominated the race and remained up front throughout the night. A late restart allowed Busch’s crew to get him back out front and then he held off Martin Truex Jr. and cruised to the finish. If it wasn’t for the last caution with 21 laps to go, Martin Truex Jr. would have likely ended up in victory lane since he dominated most of the second half of the race. Determined to win his 300th Sprint Cup start, Busch  knew he couldn’t let that happen.

Busch started the race from the pole and led for a good part, in the beginning of the race.

The first caution came out on lap 38 for debris and the second yellow-flag soon followed. Just after the restart, after the first caution, a wreck between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Austin Dillon unfolded on the backstretch. Stenhouse Jr. had a problem going down the backstretch and then spun down into Dillon. Stenhouse Jr. then completely spun out and slid backwards against the outside wall until he reached turn three. Dillon made slight contact with the wall and was able to continue. After repairs to his Ford, Stenhouse Jr. also was able to continue in the race.

Prior to the caution coming out, Martin Truex Jr. snuck past Busch to take his first lead of the race. Busch passed him again on lap 76 and continued to lead through the halfway point in the race. The next challenge for the lead occurred on lap 188, when Jeff Gordon was able to power past Busch for his first lead of the night.

Gordon’s time up front was short-lived, since a round of green-flag pit stops began nine laps after he took the lead. After the round of stops, Truex Jr. regained the top spot and stayed in the lead through the next few cautions including one with 54 laps to go when Marcos Ambrose and Jeff Burton spun out down the backstretch.

Ambrose got tapped from behind by David Gilliland which resulted in the No.9 car spinning down the backstretch. Burton wasn’t aware of the spin ahead of him, so when Mark Martin slowed ahead of him, Burton didn’t have time to slow down. Burton then spun himself out and scrapped the inside wall along the backstretch. Both Burton and Ambrose were able to continue in the race.

Truex Jr. remained out front on the restart and stayed in the lead until debris was spotted in turn four and the last yellow-flag flew with 21 laps remaining. The leaders pitted under the caution and a phenomenal stop by Busch’s crew got their driver back out front. Busch was then able to hold off Truex Jr. on the restart and then just motored around until the finish. Truex Jr. started to close on the last lap, but it was too late and Busch took the checkered flag.

This was Busch’s second Sprint Cup win this season and the second win of the weekend, since he won the Nationwide race on Friday Night. The win last night and this win produced another sweep for Busch in Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series’. Busch already swept both races at Fontana three weeks ago and his superb driving skills led him to another sweep this weekend in the Lone Star State. After a shaky first few races of the season, Busch has hit his stride as he continues to look for success as the season progresses.

Next weekend’s race at Kansas is wide open because it’ll only be the second race on the track’s new surface and could result in a surprise winner. Tune in next weekend to see if Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch can continue to dominate or if there is a new winner. Whatever the outcome of the race next weekend, it will surely be a good race to watch.
