The magical tour I took of the Charlotte Motor Speedway a few weeks ago still has lasting memories. I was so inspired by the media center, that I want to write about it this week.
It was vast and wide with empty desks and chairs that will be filled by some of the best in the NASCAR media, come race weekend. There I was walking down the aisle, seeing the computer plug-ins and the interview desk. Thinking that I could be here in five years from now, writing, talking, and living my dream.
The path will be hard and need lots of effort, but when I get to ask a driver a question in the media center one day, the internship I’m doing now will prepare me for that experience. Practice and learning are a few of the most important skills in the media world and I’ve come to learn that through many examples that stay stuck in my head.
Even writing about my journey now is practice and could lead me one day to that same media center where I could do what I’ve been dreaming about for my career. Talking to other media members, writing articles, and talking with drivers, what could be better? It may not seem amazing to some people, but to me, it is what I’m striving for to make my life aspirations complete.
To me, it’s what makes everything I’m doing now worth every minute. Every day has meaning, because it allows me to practice for that day when I get to walk into the media center on race weekend and cover the sport I love. That mere room has so much and it was just so inspiring.
That may have been my first time walking into the media center, but I’m hoping that it is only the first of many times. Chasing my dream and knowing there’s light at the end of the tunnel, to me, that’s all I need to keep striving to achieve.
