The old saying of ‘practice makes perfect’ has worn off as time has passed. The saying means little to many and some just ignore it. For me, this saying is motivation. It has inspired me to write and its inspiring me to write this right now. Because, it’s so true. Practice makes perfect.
Currently in the internship I’m doing, we’re basically on an off few weeks so our job is to keep practicing. Practice recaps, interviews, and writing in general. For me, that’s not a real assignment since that’s what I do every week anyways.
I’ve been practicing for a year and a half now and I’ve been told how I’ve improved since then. Improved, but not perfect yet. I’m practicing right now to make perfect sometime before I apply for that first writing job and I know the practice will pay off.
My practice has paid off since I was told something that meant the world to me at the track in New Hampshire last weekend. As Samantha Busch and I were chatting, she commented on my writing by saying how great it was and how it was just as good if not better than some of the media she knows of now. That complement keeps my dream to achieve my goals burning bright.
I still have three years to go until college and until then, all I can do is practice. Practice will help me in the long run. Practicing is one thing everyone can do until they perfect something. Doing writing isn’t the same as sports practice. It doesn’t require the same movement, but practicing does give my brain a workout like practicing soccer would to my legs.
There are lots of inspirational sayings out there, but only a few stick in your head. Practice makes perfect is one because it’s very true and it’s something I can and need to do if one day I want to achieve my dreams. That day is still far down the road, but practicing now will only help me in the long run.
