The ARCA Racing Series is coming up to speed with the other stock car series by implementing double-file restarts in 2014.
Double-file restarts came into existence during the 2009 All-Star race, after an exciting ten-lap sprint to the finish.
The fans spoke and NASCAR listened, as double-file restarts first appeared at Pocono Raceway in June 2009.
ARCA has followed single-file restarts, with lead-lap cars to the outside and lapped cars on the inside lane. But drivers have complained in the past of lapped cars getting in the way for a shot at the win.
Following the double-file restart rule in NASCAR, lapped cars start behind the lead-lap machines, eliminating all the headaches.
This is a great addition for ARCA, but the series needs consistency with the calls. Hopefully all will go well, providing better racing for the lower-tier series.
