18-year-old Dylan Kwasniewski will run full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) with Turner Scott Motorsports this season.
He already has an impressive résumé, becoming the first driver to win back-to-back championships in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and East (2012 & 2013).
Kwasniewski worked his way up from go-karts, to bandoleros, and then to legends cars. In 2011, he was the youngest K&N West winner at Colorado National Speedway, until his record was broken last season.
Already having done all of these things, you know who the 18-year-old driver reminds me of….right?
It would be six-time and defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson.
Just think of all the things both drivers have in common. They are both from the West Coast, with Johnson hailing from El Cajon, CA and Kwasniewski from Las Vegas, NV.
As far as racing etiquette goes, Kwasniewski races very clean on the track and has not done anything yet to make any other drivers mad. The only way he may have upset other drivers is by winning a lot. And honestly, I think I have never seen him get mad before. His nice guy appearance reminds me a lot of the six-time Cup champion.
This weekend’s NNS opener at Daytona will be the start, for whether Kwasniewski is ready for the big leagues or not.
