Steve Billmyer joins our Fan4Racing panel tonight. Steve has more than 25 years experience in the racing industry beginning with nine years at Hendrick Motorsports and has worked with drivers, including Geoff Bodine, Tim Richmond, Benny Parsons, Ken Schrader, Greg Sacks, Todd Bodine – CWTS champion, Timothy Peters – CWTS multiple race winner, and Jimmie Johnson – six-time Sprint Cup champion. He was also a Crew Chief for a K&N Pro Series East stock car until his retirement. Florida high-school student and racecar driver Michael Lira kicked off his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards racing season with a strong 9th place finish in the ARCA Mobile 200 at Mobile International Speedway on Saturday.  Lira started 14th and survived 11 caution periods to post the strong result in the No. 68 Gary Yeoman’s Ford Fusion. Kevin Harvick wins NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Darlington in overtime

The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season has been one of feast or famine for Kevin Harvick—and on Saturday night at Darlington Raceway, Harvick enjoyed the delectable taste of victory.

Passing Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the next-to-last lap of the second attempt at a green-white-checkered-flag finish, Harvick won Sunday’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 and all but locked himself into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup as the first two-time winner in the series this year (he still needs to finish in the top 30 in points after race No. 26 and attempt to qualify for every race). With a banzai run in a two-lap dash to the finish of Friday night’s Nationwide Series race at Darlington Raceway, 18-year-old Chase Elliott muscled his way past Elliott Sadler on the final lap to score his second straight win in his seventh start in the series. Continue reading

Steve Billmyer brings a unique perspective to our Saturday night show. He started at the top, and worked his way down is the way he describes his career. Billmyer was the 4th employee at Hendrick Motorsports and was a tire engineer for nine years. On race day over the years, he was a tire carrier for several different drivers including, Geoff Bodine, Tim Richmond, Benny Parsons, Ken Schrader, and Greg Sacks. Billmyer says he learned about stock car racing from the legendary Harry Hyde and was Crew Chief for 15 years for the Billmyer Racing Late Model Stock Car, partnering with his dad. Drivers who raced their 1st stock car in a Billmyer Racing LMSC were Todd Bodine – CWTS champion, Timothy Peters – CWTS multiple race winner, and Jimmie Johnson – six-time Sprint Cup champion. He was also a Crew Chief for a K&N Pro Series East stock car until his retirement. One of Billmyer’s career highlights includes working as a ‘Technical Consultant’ on the movie “Days of Thunder.”
