Greg Pursley put the stop to David Mayhew’s K&N West domination with a victory in the Armed Forces 150 at Kern County Raceway Park. Pursley and Mayhew had to slow down to avoid the No. 18 car of Bill Kann, who got going again after spinning out. NASCAR didn’t throw the caution as the No. 26 car went low and Mayhew went high as Pursley came out with the lead for the last time.
Pursley earned the pole for the race and the speed continued into the race. His Gene Price Motorsports car was strong, especially in the first half, leading the first 113 laps.
Mayhew then made a bid for the lead with a dominant car, until being passed by Pursley for the lead with four laps to go. Kern County Raceway Park is a home game for Mayhew, who also runs super late models at the Bakersfield, CA track.
Dylan Lupton came home second, as Mayhew rebounded to finish third. Brandon McReynolds and Jesse Little rounded out the top-five.
