TNT’s 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coverage Begins Sunday, June 8 at Pocono Raceway at 1 p.m. ET
Charles Barkley Races Dale Earnhardt, Jr., in Special Feature During TNT’s Pre-RaceCountdown to Green served by Sonic
Turner Sports will begin its 32nd consecutive year of NASCAR coverage with the pre-race Countdown to Green served by Sonic at noon ET on TNT, followed by coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from Pocono presented by the Dodge Charger on Sunday, June 8, from Pocono Raceway at 1 p.m. ET.
Adam Alexander will call the race and host the studio show with analysts Kyle Petty, Wally Dallenbach and Larry McReynolds. In addition, veteran reporters Ralph Sheheen, Marty Snider, Matt Yocum and Chris Neville will patrol pit road to bring viewers comprehensive coverage and access before and during each NASCAR Summer Series race.
TNT’s Countdown to Green served by Sonic will feature a unique showdown for its season opener with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. as he takes on Inside the NBA’s Charles Barkley during a go-kart race – Chuck vs. Dale Jr. Presented by Samsung GALAXY – recently held at GoPro Motorplex. The show will also preview this week’s race and feature all-access coverage of this year’s Sprint Fan Vote winner Josh Wise and his team leading up to Pocono.
Additionally, the Toyota Camry Test Car — a new addition for this year’s race coverage — will bring fans closer to the action. This week, Petty will use the car for a pre-race driving segment highlighting the special features of Pocono Raceway. During the race, McReynolds will use it to show some of the performance characteristics that are unique to this year’s car configurations.
Throughout the six-week NASCAR Summer Series, TNT will celebrate Turner Sports’ top moments from 32 years of NASCAR coverage with a special thematic feature each week during Countdown to Green served by Sonic.
TNT RaceBuddy, which is available on NASCAR.com and the NASCAR MOBILE app, will also return during the NASCAR Summer Series to offer a companion experience allowing fans to view the race via eight HD camera angles and two mosaic options. Camera angles will include six In-Car Driver Cams putting fans directly in the driver’s seat, a Battle Cam highlighting head-to-head competition between drivers, and a Pit Road Cam. Other features include an enhanced live leaderboard, real-time race data and a live chat module offering fans a seamlessly integrated experience during each race.
