truTV’s Motor City Masters Heading to Pocono Raceway June 7-8 with Immersive Car Design Installation

Motor City Masters is off to the races. truTV’s new car design competition is at the center of an immersive car-design installation at Pocono Raceway’s Fan Fair for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from Pocono 400 during the weekend of June 7-8. Produced with Chevrolet and premiering Tuesday, June 24, at 10 pm ET, Motor City Masters is bringing together ten experienced designers, with various specialties and backgrounds, all sharing a passion for car design.

Motor City Masters judge Jean Jennings, legendary automotive journalist and former editor-in-chief of Automobile magazine, is making appearances at Pocono Raceway throughout the weekend. She is attending the Sprint Cup Series Drivers Meeting and will have a view of the action up close from Victory Lane. She’ll also blog from the race at  jeanknowscars.com.

truTV’s Motor City Masters installation at Pocono Raceway will immerse fans in the world of custom car design, giving them the chance to emerge as Motor City Master’s in their own right. Fans will get to have their very own custom concept cars sketched out by an artist. They’ll be able to pose for the photo with their sketch superimposed on to the cover of Automobile  magazine, which they can then upload and share with friends via social media.

In addition to the Motor City Masters installation, sister network TNT’s coverage of the Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, June 8, at 1 pm ET will tout the show. On Saturday, members of TNT’s NASCAR announcing team will describe their dream cars to two of the competing Motor City Masters  designers: Camilo and Darby. The designers will sketch their ideas, showcased during TNT’s NASCAR Summer Series coverage.

“NASCAR is the perfect outlet through which to spread the word about truTV’s exciting new competition series Motor City Masters,” said Puja Vohra, senior vice president of marketing and digital for truTV. “We look forward to plunging race fans into the fascinating world of car design, introducing them to Motor City Masters and giving them the chance to get their own design ideas put down on paper.”

Among the other features of the Motor City Masters area at Pocono, a Camaro Z/28 and Corvette will be on display, exemplifying the high-end craftsmanship of Chevrolet. Fans will also be treated to their very own copy of their magazine cover shoot, as well as truTV tchotchkes – while supplies last.
