Following the footsteps of his father David Gilliland, a Sprint Cup Series driver and grandfather Butch Gilliland, a K&N West champion, Todd Gilliland’s star was the brightest at Irwindale Event Center on July 19th.

Saturday night, 14-year-old Todd finished third in the Super Late Models main event, the first time that all three generations of Gillilands have raced each other. Their goal was to finish with all three cars among the top-five. But a ‘twist of fate’ wreaked havoc for one. Continue reading

Chase Elliott, JR Motorsports Continue Impressive Season with Chicagoland Victory

In another outstanding performance, 18-year old Chase Elliott made it to victory lane for the third time this season. The No. 9 team stole the show throughout the night as they proved early on they were the ones to beat at Chicagoland Speedway.

Brian Scott began the race on the pole and held the lead through the first yellow-flag of the race for Sam Hornish Jr.’s expired engine. However, he would not be able to hold off Elliott for long. The rocket-ship Elliott had first appeared out front on lap 21. Continue reading

Sergio Pena returns to K&N East Victory Lane at Columbus

Sergio Pena found a familiar place after Saturday’s JEGS 150 at Columbus Motor Speedway.  It was victory lane for the first time in three years.

Pena took the lead after a lap 119 restart from Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) driver Cameron Hayley and remained out front the rest of the night.

This is Rev Racing’s third win on the season and Pena’s first since Greenville-Pickens Speedway in September 2011. Continue reading

Smith Chasing Nationwide’s Dash 4 Cash Million Dollars

Jackpot! JR Motorsport’s driver Regan Smith won the first round of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dash 4 Cash program at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, banking $100,000 – and qualifying himself for the chance to win $1 million.  If Smith can win the first three legs of the Dash 4 Cash and the Iowa race outright, Nationwide Insurance will award him an extra $600,000 – totaling one million dollars.
