2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Mason Mitchell announced that he will race in the fourth annual ARCA-Mobile 200 at the Mobile International Speedway (MIS) on March 14th.
“It’s simple, I want the jukebox” Mitchell said after a press conference for MIS. “Mobile has become the top short track on the ARCA schedule in a short time. The trophy is the Martinsville grandfather clock of the ARCA Series. We learned a lot from last year and our short track program was really strong at the end of the year.”
Mitchell will pilot the No. 78 Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) Ford. The 20-year old has two starts at the half-mile with a best finish of third coming one year ago.
Mobile will mark the first race for the new composite body in the ARCA Racing Series. Mitchell’s teammate Austin Wayne Self, will pilot the new composite car body while Mitchell will run the steel body car. The Iowa native will race chassis 589 out of the MMM stable. The chassis saw action four times in 2014 earning four top-five finishes a best finish of second three times (Winchester, Springfield and Salem).
Mason Mitchell is the 2014 ARCA Racing Series champion and a driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Mitchell has over 15 years of experience in motorsports. He became the first Iowa native in 40 years to win the ARCA championship in 2014. Mitchell is seeking opportunities in the Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2015 season.
Mason Mitchell Motorsports: Is an ARCA Championship team/ NASCAR Camping World Truck Series development team based out of Mooresville, North Carolina. In their first year in ARCA the team captured the championship winning one race, earning 12 top-five’s, 18 top-ten finishes and five poles in 20 starts.
