NASCAR XFINITY Series Rookie of the Year contender Ross Chastain sits in tenth-place in the series point standings as the circuit moves on to Phoenix International Raceway Saturday for the Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200.

In his first three races of the season, Chastain has finishes of ninth, 24th and 18th, and he has reason for confidence as his JD Motorsports team heads to Phoenix.

This will be Chastain’s first XFINITY Series race at Phoenix, but he has solid experience in the Camping World Truck Series at the track. He has raced there twice, and, in 2013, Chastain won the pole and finished second in the Camping World Truck Series event.

“I really like the Phoenix track,” Chastain said. “I’ve done well there in the Truck Series, and there’s no reason we can’t carry some of that over to the XFINITY cars. If you get the car hooked up right there, you can make some serious progress.”

XFINITY Series drivers will practice at 4:30 p.m. FOX Sports 1 and 6 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2 on Friday at Phoenix. Qualifying is Saturday at 12:45 p.m., on FOX Sports 1 with the race following at 4 p.m. ET on FOX.
