William Byron returns, this time to our Winner’s Circle on Fan4Racing Fan2Fan NASCAR & Race Talk on Monday, April 6, 2015 at 9 pm ET. During the LIVE broadcast, call 714-202-9918 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite or @Sal_Sigala with any questions or comments.
Earning his first K&N Pro Series East victory, H Scott Motorsports with Justin Marks driver, William Byron added his name to the list of drivers getting their first series win over the past ten years at Greenville Pickens Speedway including, Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, and Darrell Wallace Jr. At just 17 years of age.
Dominating behind the wheel of his No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet, Byron took over first place passing the pole winner, Daniel Hemric to begin the race in just his second start of the series.
“We had a great race car and, after waiting over a month to get back behind the wheel after New Smyrna, we were more than ready to go,” said Byron. “I did a ton of preparation to learn restarts and what I needed to do to get the win, and my guys at HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks gave me a really strong Liberty University Chevrolet this weekend. To lead every single lap and come away with my first K&N Series win is amazing; I’m just really proud of everyone on this team for the overall performance.”
Byron’s win represents the 14th all-time K&N Pro Series East races at Greenville Pickens. There have been 13 different winners with Byron joining Brett Moffitt (2011) as the only two to lead from start to finish.
This is a boost for Byron, who is now second in the series point standings, as he also competes for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors.
The Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 broadcast is on NBCSN on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30 pm ET.
Next up for the K&N East drivers is the PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 18.
