Kaz Grala is our guest on Fan4Racing Fan2Fan NASCAR & Race Talk on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 9 pm ET. Call 714-202-9918 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite or @Sal_Sigala with any questions or comments during the LIVE broadcast.
Earning his best finish of the 2015 season in the K&N East, 16-year-old Kaz Grala brought his No. 3 Kiklos Camry across the finish line in fourth-place.
Although, Grala would have preferred a higher finish, he’s appreciative of his team and their effort in the PittLite 125.
“While celebrating in victory lane would be better, I couldn’t be happier leaving Bristol with a top-five finish and a car without a scratch on it.” said Grala. “We had great battles all race long – literally giving it everything we had. I’m so proud to be the top finishing Toyota in the field.”
Grala qualified in 12th-place and his crew chief, Mike Fritts, knew then, they had a better pace for the race.
“We had a good qualifying run, be we knew our race pace was going to be even better,” said crew chief Mike Fritts. “We focused most of our practice time on longer runs, so we were confident that we would be able to gain positions during the race.”
Team owner, Ben Kennedy was in attendance at the Last Great Collosseum, and shared his thoughts about Grala’s performance.
“It was a solid performance for Kaz and the No. 3 Kiklos Camry,” said Kennedy. “Kaz did a great job battling for third while dealing with a lot of pressure from behind in the end, he was just too good off the corners and held on to fourth coming to the checkered flag.”
Grala is now fifth in the series point standings and he’s looking forward to their next race. The K&N East will meet the K&N West for the Casey’s General Stores 150 at Iowa Speedway on May 16th.
In the meantime, fans can watch the K&N East PittLite 125 from Bristol broadcast on NBCSN on Thursday, April 23rd. Check your local listings for the start time.
