Making his fifth start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Richmond International Raceway, Brennan Poole marks his fourth top-15 finish in the No. 42 HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi entry to go along with his one top-ten finish of ninth at Las Vegas.
With his best starting position of the season, Poole qualified tenth, advancing through all three rounds of Xfinity Series qualifying earlier Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday night, the ToyotaCare 250 featured long green flag runs, but the No. 42 team was able to make slight chassis adjustments to the car to improve as the race continued. Just after the halfway mark, Poole raced his way into the top-ten and on the last restart, settled in with a 13th-place finish.
“We had an awesome DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro tonight,” said Poole in his team release. “During practice and qualifying we fought mostly a tight condition, but (crew chief) Mike (Shiplett) made very good adjustments throughout the race. It was great to roll off the truck and be fast. I feel like with each lap that goes by I am getting more comfortable in these cars. I am looking forward to racing at Talladega Superspeedway next week.”
Impressed with his first two races of the season, owner Harry Scott increased Poole’s 15 race schedule with two more races, both at Iowa Speedway on May 17th and August 1st.
“He has really impressed me so far this year with his performances in Las Vegas and Phoenix,’’ team owner Harry Scott Jr. said in a team release. “The Iowa Speedway configuration should play right into Brennan’s skill set, and I’m looking forward to seeing him have successful runs at each event.’’
Watch Poole’s next Xfinity Series race, the Winn-Dixie 300 at Talladega on FOX at 3 pm ET, Saturday, May 2nd.
