On May 7th, Venturini Motorsports announced that 14-year-old, Todd Gilliland, will make his ARCA Racing Series début on May 17th during the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway. Gilliland will pilot Venturini’s No.55 Toyota for the event.
Todd Gilliland is the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, David Gilliland and is progressing his career within motorsports with the support of his family. Gilliland will celebrate his 15th birthday just days before his ARCA Racing Series début, and that will make him the youngest driver to start an ARCA race in their series’ history.
“It’s super exciting getting an opportunity to run an ARCA race in really good equipment. Of course I want a solid finish but the main goal is to gain experience and earn the respect of the other drivers. I just want to make the most of this opportunity,” said Gilliland.
In March, this season, the young Gilliland earned his first late-model win at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, NC. In 2014, he won his first race in a lower-horsepower Limited Late Model race last May at Ace Speedway in Altamaha, N.C.
This past weekend, Gilliland raced in the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Catawba Valley 250 at Hickory Speedway, finishing 27th after a cut right front tire and wreck derailed his effort.
Rough night… cut a right front passing early on and I just need to be more patient in those situations but then got in the back and wrecked
