HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks came into the K&N Pro Series East weekend at Bowman Gray Stadium aiming toward victory lane for their second win of the 2015 season and for the second time in the history of the organization. Scott Heckert gave the team a strong start to the weekend by leading final practice and winning the pole position – the fourth of his career – to start first in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 later on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old Heckert, piloting the No. 34 Chevrolet, continued his momentum in the race by leading all 150 laps and capturing his third series’ victory. Teammates Dalton Sargeant and JJ Haley followed right behind, finishing second and third, giving HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks’ their first-ever one-two-three finish.

“Our car was great, I can’t thank these HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks guys enough. They worked so hard to give me a perfect car and that’s really what it was. On the short run those guys could stick with us, but on the longer run we just had a really strong car. They deserve to be in victory lane and I’m glad that’s where we ended up.”

Quickly putting some drivers a lap down, Heckert, held off some hard charges by his teammate Sargeant throughout the 150-lap race to capture his first victory of 2015. Heckert finished .579 seconds in front of Sargeant. The win vaulted Heckert to fourth in the K&N East Point Standings, just 18 points behind the current points leader, his teammate William Byron.

“The biggest challenge for us was starting on the outside on every restart,” said Sargeant. “Historically at this place drivers starting on the outside get shuffled back, but luckily for us we were able to get down to the inside. I feel like that really helped us maintain our gap on our competitors and be able to come home second. Overall for everyone at HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks, a 1-2-3 finish is really good.”

Heckert’s two previous wins came last year on road-courses: New York’s Watkins Glen International and Virginia International Raceway.

The K&N East, NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 broadcast is on Thursday, June 4 at 6 pm ET on NBC Sports Network.

The NASCAR K&N East Series will race next at Langley Speedway in the Visit Hampton 175 on Saturday, June 20.
