With two consecutive poles and his first series victory in Columbus, OH, Rico Abreu with HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks, is on a big roll of momentum and looking for more in the next NASCAR K&N East event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend.

In just his sixth K&N East start, 23-year-old Abreu, a successful open-wheel Sprint car driver who won the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals on dirt earlier this year, captured the pole position at Langley Speedway in June. In his seventh start in July, he captured the pole again, then grabbed his first career K&N East victory at Columbus Motor Speedway.

Abreu just beat Grant Quinlan to the finish line. In his K&N Pro Series East début, Quinlan battled for – and swapped – the lead eight times with Abreu throughout the NAPA 150 event. The margin of victory for Abreu over Quinlan was 0.103 seconds.

“Everybody here at HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks got me to this point,” says Abreu.  “It’s kind of incredible that we came into this season just looking for a top-ten finish and now we have a win before we even got a top-five. It shows how good this team is and how hard they work back at the shop. It was just a tremendous job all weekend with the pole, and the pole last time out at Langley. We had a top-three car at Langley too and just got shuffled back on the restarts. I just keep learning and learning, which I’m happy with. Every race we’ve gone to, we keep showing big improvements and that counts in the end of these races.”

The NASCAR K&N East will return to action with the Granite State 70 on July 17 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The NBC Sports Network broadcast of the race is on July 23rd at 7 pm ET.
