With a commanding lead in the ARCA Racing Series point standings, Grant Enfinger with GMS Racing reinforced his intentions to become this season’s champion with a dominating Federated Auto Parts 200 win at Berlin Raceway on Saturday night. For Enfinger it is his fourth victory of the 2015 season and his second year in a row winning at Berlin Raceway.
Enfinger was fastest in qualifying earlier in the day, earning his second pole award of the year.
The Fairhope, Alabama native lead nearly all 200 laps with crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz leading the team from the pit box. During the second caution on lap 54, the team made minimal air pressure adjustments and changed two tires to help loosen the tight handling of the No. 23 car.
Enfinger took the restart on lap 60 and led until the next caution on lap 145, when he brought his car to pit road for four fresh tires and fuel.
Again leading through the ensuing green-white-checker finish, Enfinger earned his fourth victory of the season and now leads second-place Austin Wayne Self by 225 markers in the point standings.
“We had one fast Allegiant Travel, Alamo Rent A Car Chevrolet here tonight,” said Enfinger after the race. “The good Lord was watching over us today for sure and I thank Him. Restarts were definitely my strong suit here at Berlin Raceway. Our GMS Racing team topped both practice sessions, earned the pole award and the win, and brought a car home in one piece today. It could not have gotten any better. I cannot thank my crew, Allegiant Travel, WURTH USA, Portable Shade USA and Chevrolet enough for all of their support.”
Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is the SuperChevyStores.com 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
