Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway long be remembered by Ryan Partridge as when he earned his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Victory in the NAPA Auto Parts 150.
Earlier in the day, the 25-year-old rookie from Rancho Cucamonga, CA earned his first Coors Light Pole Award, then went on to lead all but one lap in the race. Partridge passed the checkered flag 1.7 seconds in front of second-place Blake Williams, who in his third career start, posted his second top-five finish.
In 2014, Partridge was the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series CA champion, at Irwindale Speedway. Saturday was his 13th start in the K&N West, his first full-time season in the series with owner, Bob Bruncati. In their last outing, Partridge earned his previous best finish as runner-up at Evergreen Speedway.
Rounding out the top-five finishers were, defending race winner, Chris Eggleston finishing third, followed by David Mayhew and Brandon McReynolds. Rookies Gracin Raz, Alex Shutte, Noah Gragson and Nicole Behar along with 2014 Rookie of the Year James Bickford round out the top-ten.
It was a dominating race for Partridge with the only other driver to take the lead being Eggleston on a lap 29 restart. Both he and Partridge are now tied for the championship points lead, with Gragson dropping six points behind in third and Raz now 12 points back in fourth. A tight points race is heating up with only three races left on the series schedule.
