For Rookie of the Year candidate, Cameron Hayley the 2015 season has been impressive and especially in the last four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races with consecutive top-ten finishes, including a tenth-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last Friday night.
The ThorSport Racing driver, topped the charts in the last practice session on Thursday night, then Hayley qualified 14th in this No. 13 truck on Saturday afternoon. Hayley’s top-ten finish in the WinStar Casino 350 was also his 12th of the 2015 season.
“Our Carolina Nut Co. Toyota Tundra was really good in practice on Thursday, so I was optimistic for tonight’s race,” said Hayley. “We just couldn’t nail the setup tonight like we had before. We started off way to free, and it just got worse. At the end of the race we tightened it up way too much, and I just had no grip out there. It’s not the kind of night we wanted, but on the bright side, it was another top-ten finish, and a good points day overall. We’ll just move forward and get them next week.”
Hayley has maintained his sixth-place in the 2015 series’ driver point standings and is now 20 points behind fifth-place, Timothy Peters, and 126 behind points leader, Erik Jones.
Erik Jones won the WinStar World Casino 350k at Texas Motor Speedway, followed by Daniel Suarez, Ryan Blaney, ThorSport Racing teammate, Matt Crafton and Tyler Reddick.
With just two events remaining, for Hayley and the Camping World Truck Series their next event is the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday, November 13th.
