David Levine and Kyle Weatherman are our guests on Fan4Racing Fan2Fan NASCAR & Race Talk on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 9/9:15 pm ET. Call 929-477-1790 or tweet @Fan4RacingSite @Sal_Sigala or @beberly18 with any questions or comments during our LIVE broadcast.
David Levine held the ARCA Racing Series Scott Rookie Challenge points lead for the most of the 2015 season. Kyle Weatherman took over the Rookie points lead by two points in race 19 of 20 at Kentucky, then held off Levine in the season finale at Kansas to claim the title.
Now the two ARCA rivals are taking their battle to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Both are making their Truck Series début in the Ford Ecoboost 200 with Lira Motorsports during Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 20th.
Without much doubt they will try to outdo each other for the best finishing position, but perhaps their personal rivalry be left on the sidelines to some extent as they become teammates this weekend. The duo will make up the two-team entry by Lira Motorsports, a team that made a huge splash in their first full year of ARCA Racing Series competition in 2015.
Based in Mooresville, NC, Lira Motorsports captured two wins and a total of 22 top-ten finishes in a multi-car effort led by team owners Carlos and Amanda Lira. Levine, the team’s primary driver, claimed 11 of the team’s top-ten finishes and placed fifth in the Series 2015 driver point standings. He was the highest finishing Rookie driver in points, while piloting the highest finishing Ford in the driver point standings.
“David and Kyle both had very good years in ARCA, and we are confident that they will bring similar levels of success and professionalism to the truck program we are building,” commented Carlos Lira. “We’ve had the backing of Ford Performance all year, and the Ford F-150s we are fielding at Homestead will be top-notch. Our début in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is part of a long-term plan for Lira Motorsports to be involved in both NASCAR and ARCA Racing competition.”
