NASCAR K&N Pro Series East teams head to Bristol Motor Speedway for their next event and topping the storylines of the weekend is 15-year-old Todd Gilliland with Bill McAnally Racing. A 2016 rookie of the year contender in the K&N West, Gilliland is on a unique historic journey to break a 50-year series record if he scores his fifth consecutive victory on Saturday, April 16th.
Making waves since the K&N West season finale at Phoenix International Raceway in November last year, Gilliland came home with his first career victory in his first start in the series. The young Sherrills Ford, North Carolina driver then went on the win his next two starts in the K&N East and West 2016 season openers at New Smyrna Speedway in February and Irwindale Speedway in March, winning three consecutive events.
Coming to terms that Gilliland is a ‘real deal’ rookie contender many wondered if the young driver could make it four in a row in the next K&N West race at Kern County Raceway. Gilliland rose to the occasion, matching the 50-year record of International Hall of Famer Dan Gurney with his fourth consecutive victory in as many events.
“We’re getting better so everyone better watch out!” says Gilliland
That’s fair warning to K&N Pro Series fans and competitors alike, that this weekend’s PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway is a do not miss event as Todd Gilliland continues his unique historic journey.
