Brett Moffitt and Hattori Racing Proving They are More than Just the Little Team that Could

Coming into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Overton’s 225 at Chicagoland Speedway, Brett Moffitt was a two-time winner this year with Hattori Racing and locked into the playoffs, already establishing it as the best year of his career.  However, it was a stressful beginning to the week as Monday through Wednesday they spent time trying to secure sponsorship and funding so they could be on track this past Friday and not lose their playoff and championship eligibility.  Introduced with the team back in 2015, Fr8Auctions was there up to help them out with sponsorship for Chicagoland this week and during their press conference in the Media Center, they said there’s sponsorship in place for Kentucky Speedway next week.

“They said if we ever need any help, they would love to step up and help out. It means the world to us that they helped get us here to Chicago and hopefully we can go out there and win a race for them.”

And that is exactly what the team delivered on Friday night, their third victory of the year, further cementing their place as a championship contending team.  Although winning always helps, it doesn’t bring them completely out of the woods yet. While they secure for Kentucky next weekend, they still have some open races the rest of the year and that takes a toll on the team.

“It’s really been this past month that’s been mentally and emotionally draining. It’s unfortunate for us because I think our truck program is so strong right now. And that’s with all of this as a distraction. I feel like if we could just focus on the race trucks and making our race team stronger and not have to worry about the sponsorships or finances, we could be even better yet. The next race is at Kentucky Speedway and I think we’re looking good for that. And then Eldora is the next question mark on the schedule. Unfortunately, that’s going to be here before you know it. I just hope we can pull something together to get to Eldora and after that, I know for sure Bristol is still open and Homestead. We still have a few more to go but hopefully, we can work through it.”

If the team can square away the business side and become stronger on the track, the competition will have their challenges getting to victory lane.
