In the first leg of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East meets the West, DGR Crosley’s Tyler Ankrum (East) led the first practice at Iowa Speedway on Friday afternoon. Through his results, Ankrum is making the first statement of the weekend that he’s here to win the Casey’s General Store 150.
With the high of taking the first practice for Ankrum, there was a low for Anthony Alfredo from MDM Motorsports. His car caught fire just two laps into the first practice sidelining him for the rest of the session. Realizing there was a problem, Alfredo was bringing his No. 40 car to the garage when the fire broke out. The team immediately went to work to identify the problem.
Following Ankrum in second is Kyle Benjamin (East) in the No. 1 for Hattori Racing Enterprises, and Ankrum’s teammate Tyler Dippel (East) in third place. Rounding out the top-five were Dillon Bassett (East) in the No.44 and Spencer Davis (East) in the No. 82.
Rounding out the top-ten, are Cole Rouse (West) from Bill McAnally Racing, Tristan Van Wieringen (East) in the No. 30, Derek Thorn (West) from Sunrise Ford Racing, Hailie Deegan (West) with BMR and Sam Mayer (West) with Jefferson Pitts Racing in the No. 27.
